When mailing out those precious invites, common sense dictates that one sends a sampling of two to three through the mail. A testing of the system, if you will. They arrive – one has achieved success and can move forward. They are returned – access the situation and make the required corrections and test again.
So… I got really excited and mailed out all 74 invites at once.
I mean, come on! I spent hours designing the invite. More hours addressing, folding, inserting, stamping, and licking those little buggers. I was so stoked to get them out to friends and family. Testing the system? Ain’t nobody got time for that!
On a sunny Thursday morning I was sure of my postage and off they went. Thursday evening I realized my error (I needed to have added additional ounce stamps to each envelope). Friday was spent fretting about what was going to happen. Will they all be returned? Will they be delivered by chance? What if they are delivered but are… postage due? How embarrassing!
All for nothing as the invites started to get delivered on Saturday.
YATTA!
So what happened? It’s still a great mystery. Perhaps it was divine intervention. Perhaps the post office delivers obvious greeting cards. Perhaps I just dodged a huge bullet. My money is on divine intervention.
But don’t risk it! Send out a test batch! There’s a lot that could go wrong with your expensive wedding invites. Your envelopes don’t hold up, the address could be hard to read, it’s an odd size, etc. Test the waters before you jump in!
